How to use the linked activities to apply, strengthen and engage the different Intelligence Centres.

Overview:

By reading and engaging in all of the activities in the books you will help your child to understand, develop and realise his/her own strengths and potential.

By utilising the six books in the series your child will discover which Intelligence Centres they feel more comfortable with and which ones they can draw on when they need to.

Step 1 – Read the “So much more than just story books !” section found at the start of each book.

Step 2 - Read the book.  To enhance your reading experience refer to the suggested different ways of reading the book described in step 1.

Step 3 - Choose a numbered activity to support the books foundations each time you read.   The interactive activities help strengthen and engage the different aspects of the Intelligence Centres and are explained on the activity sheet.

Step 4 - Use the language.  You can use the animal characters from the book as a ‘language’ to describe the Intelligence Centres the child is using, or might like to use for different activities.

Examples:

·       “Kylie might like a little bit of Turtle because she looks upset.  She may like a hug.”

·       “I used my Jaguar today when I ran my fastest in the race.”

·       “Let’s use our Rabbit to think of ideas to solve this problem”

You may need to offer encouragement to your child to help them complete the activities.  Praise their efforts and be patient as they may need to work out their responses and how they are feeling.  If they don’t feel like doing an activity then you can come back to it another day.

It is a good idea for you and your child to complete the activities together so then you will both be on a learning journey. To help your child do the activities, remember to share how you are feeling and thinking while you are doing them.

Suggested phrases to encourage your child:

 “Go on, have a try.”

“What do you think Jaguar would do?”

“How else does it make you feel?”

“It is alright, just take your time.”

When you see this symbol   explore with your child how they think, how they feel and how their body responds in relation to the activity.   As you know your child best, choose different activities which you feel are the most appropriate for them.

Each book has three activities already included, the activity sheets have an additional twenty five activities per book

These activities are part of the journey of learning and appreciation of all the Intelligence Centres.

Applying these tools can give you the recipe for success
